Our Journey to Asheville at the James Beard Summit 2025

This week, our pitmaster Fernando González hit the road to Asheville, NC for the 2025 James Beard Foundation Chef Action Summit—a national gathering where chefs, owners, and food world folks come together to talk about how we can make the restaurant industry stronger, more sustainable, and more supportive.

The summit covered everything from how climate change is affecting our food systems, to supporting immigrant workers, to building resilient restaurants that can weather anything. Workshops, panels, storytelling—real tools for real-world challenges.

But it wasn’t all panel talks and notepads. Fernando got to share stories, laughs, and ideas with amazing chefs from around the country. In the photo above, you can catch him (on the right) alongside new friends, repping 2Fifty and soaking up all the good energy.

Why This Matters

At 2Fifty BBQ, we’re always learning and growing—not just in the smokehouse, but as part of something bigger. Being in a room full of passionate, purpose-driven chefs lit a new kind of fire, and we’re bringing that spark home.

We’re still all about real wood, craft barbecue, and tropical soul—but we’re also about progress, people, and making this industry better from the inside out.

Stay tuned—there’s more goodness to come.
