2fifty Texas BBQ Wins RAMMYs Restaurateur of the Year
A proud recognition for Fernando, our team, and the DMV community behind 2fifty Texas BBQ.
A restaurant does not become what 2fifty is by accident.
It takes direction, standards, long days, early fires, and a team that believes the food should speak clearly.
That is why this RAMMY recognition means so much: Fernando González has been named Restaurateur of the Year.
RAMW describes this award as honoring “a visionary leader who sets the high standard in restaurant operations and entrepreneurship.” For us, that standard shows up every day in the pit room, the kitchen, the service line, and the hospitality we offer from Riverdale Park to Washington, DC.
We believe leadership in barbecue has to show up in the food.
In his RAMMY acceptance remarks, Fernando spoke about being born and raised during the civil war in El Salvador, and about coming to this country seven and a half years ago with four suitcases, his immediate family, and the hope of finding peace and opportunity.
He also thanked the DMV culinary community for welcoming his family, opening doors, and making them feel like they belonged.
That welcome helped shape 2fifty.
From the beginning, Fernando believed this region was ready for handcrafted barbecue at the highest culinary level. At 2fifty, that craft starts with fire.
This award is a proud moment for Fernando, but it belongs to more than one person.
It belongs to Debby, his wife and business partner. It belongs to our farmers, ranchers, purveyors, front of house, back of house, pit crew, and every person who helps keep the fire going.
It belongs to the guests who keep showing up, and it belongs to the DMV community that made room for Central Texas barbecue with Salvadoran roots.
Fernando also used the moment to speak about responsibility: making sure the people who feed our communities can build careers with dignity, respect, and safe workplaces. We believe that is part of restaurant leadership too.
