Introducing 2fifty's Nite Bites
For years, we heard the same question from our guests: when can we get 2fifty at night? Starting Saturday, Oct. 3, we finally have an answer. Nite Bites, our new trailer parked outside the Riverdale Park smokehouse, serves a compact carry-out menu Wednesday through Sunday from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Back outside, where it started
2fifty started at the Riverdale Park Farmers Market, serving barbecue outside long before it opened a dining room in Riverdale Park, Maryland, and a second location on K Street in Washington, DC. Nite Bites brings 2fifty back outside, with a pickup window and a carry-out menu made for the end of the day.
Why a nighttime menu
"At night, the options are mostly fast food. We wanted to offer something made from scratch, with everything that defines 2fifty: smoke, fire, ethical sourcing, house-grown greens, and locally sourced vegetables," said Fernando González, pitmaster and co-founder of 2fifty Texas BBQ.
The approach at the trailer is the same one that guides the restaurant. What changes is the format: a short menu for the ride home, a quick stop, or a night in.
What's on the menu
The Nite Bites menu runs from $6 to $19 and draws on both sides of 2fifty's kitchen: Texas barbecue and the Latin American flavors rooted in our founders' backgrounds.
The Chopped Beef Brisket Sandwich is made with Creekstone Farms Prime chopped Brisket on a toasted brioche bun. The Smoked 'n Seared Burger comes with a House Grind, all-natural beef patty and House Fries. The Pork Belly en Mole pairs Crispy Pork Belly with House Mole and House Rosemary Chips, and the Choripán combines Smoked Sausage, Monterey Jack, and House Chimichurri.
For something lighter, the Salpicón Cold Beef Salad brings chilled beef, fresh herbs, radish, and lime over red hydroponic lettuce and perilla leaf. The menu also includes Chicharrón with Guacamole, a Brisket Burnt Ends Salad, and a Texas Chili made without beans.
Three items come from collaborations with people 2fifty works with closely. The Briscuit, made with Manifest Bread, layers sliced smoked brisket, a fried egg, and House Jam on a biscuit. Pastry Chef Alma Umana closes the menu with her Budín, and the All-American Lager was brewed in collaboration with Denizens Brewing Co.
