2fifty Texas BBQ in The Washington Post: Best Restaurants and Essential Dishes of D.C.
In 2026 The Washington Post put 2fifty Texas BBQ on two of its most-read food lists: The 40 Best Restaurants in and around D.C. (October 14, 2026) and The 40 essential dishes of D.C. (August 28, 2026).
The dish the Post chose is our Whole Hog sandwich, something we started cooking when we opened in Washington, DC. We smoke a whole suckling pig, pull meat from every part of it, season it, dress it with an apple cider vinegar sauce and finish it with crushed fried pork skin for crunch. Order it at our K Street smokehouse.
The Post has followed our smokehouse since the Riverdale Park days. Its guides have included 2fifty again and again, from the best barbecue joints in the D.C. area to the best casual restaurants of 2020. For a Salvadoran family cooking Central Texas barbecue on wood alone, that steady attention from the city's paper of record means a lot.
Where to taste it
Both smokehouses open at 11am and close Tuesdays. Visit us in Riverdale Park, MD or on K Street NW in Washington, DC, or pre-order to skip the line.
